Challenge
The CMIS project required a digital platform that could balance complex data visualization, multilingual accessibility, and advocacy-driven storytelling, while remaining user-friendly and informative.
Several challenges were identified at the start of the project:
Solution
We developed a dynamic, bilingual website for CMIS that transforms complex data into clear, accessible insights, supporting both the organization’s research mission and advocacy goals.
Here’s how we approached each of the problems:
Interactive Data Visualisation
The site visualized press freedom violations through charts and maps, enabling users to filter and explore incidents by type, context, region, or source.
Interactive data dashboard
We implemented a fully responsive statistics module, featuring pie charts, bar charts, and tables. Users can toggle chart visibility and explore data using both numbers and percentages.
Seamless integration with external resources
CMIS needed to link parts of the new website (e.g., Projects section) to existing platforms while ensuring design consistency and clear navigation.
Smart external linking
We created a seamless user experience by embedding strategic redirections that maintain consistency and keep users oriented.
Long-term sustainability & team autonomy
The internal team needed an easy-to-manage backend to update statistics, texts, and multilingual content regularly, with proper technical SEO and quality assurance in place.
Scalable and maintainable CMS
We built the platform on a WordPress foundation with a clean backend UI, technical SEO setup, and structured content blocks to empower the CMIS team for long-term use and growth.
Multilingual content management
As an organization working across national and international contexts, CMIS required full support for both Georgian and English content.
Full multilingual support
The site supports both Georgian and English content, with language switching integrated into all text sections, forms, and data interfaces.
