Data Migration

The Civil Society Foundation (CSF) has been one of the leading forces in promoting democracy, human rights, and social justice in Georgia for nearly 30 years.

With over $118 million invested in programs supporting youth, minorities, women, and vulnerable communities, CSF plays a key role in Georgia’s European integration journey.

Our collaboration with CSF began in 2018, growing into a long-term partnership focused on delivering impactful digital tools that reflect the Foundation’s vision, legacy, and future ambitions.

Redesigning and relaunching CSF’s website required balancing technical complexity with content clarity.

Several challenges were identified at the start of the project:

Solution

We developed a future-ready website for CSF that combines secure infrastructure, elegant design, and long-term usability – all rooted in a deep understanding of the Foundation’s mission and content needs.

Here’s how we approached each of the problems:

Migrating a decade of complex data

The original website housed more than 10 years of publications, projects, grant announcements, and media content across a deeply nested structure.

Structured data migration

We carefully mapped and migrated a decade’s worth of content into a clear, searchable structure, preserving every detail and improving overall accessibility.

Domain and name transition

The rebranding from Open Society Georgia Foundation to CSF required not only a name change but also a secure and SEO-friendly domain migration strategy.

Seamless domain migration

We implemented domain redirects, adjusted internal links, and conducted detailed SEO audits to ensure zero traffic loss during the transition.

Legacy content structure

The outdated structure made it hard for users to find relevant information quickly. A new system was needed for simplified, intuitive navigation.

Simplified information architecture

A new navigation system, focused on user intent, helped surface key areas like grants, projects, and publications more clearly and efficiently.

Design from scratch

Apart from the logo, CSF had no existing design assets. The new site had to be built around a fresh, mission-driven visual concept.

Unique design inspired by CSF’s values

We created a wave-based design system symbolizing the flow of information, paired with bold visuals and a modern UI to reflect CSF’s progressive role.

Security and performance

Due to the sensitive nature of CSF’s work, the site had to meet high standards in both cybersecurity and technical performance.

Enterprise-grade security & optimization

We added two-factor authentication, automated security scans, advanced caching, and performance monitoring to ensure stability, speed, and safety.

Long-term manageability

The site needed to be easy to update and manage internally, so the team could independently publish content without relying on external support.

Scalable admin panel

The new backend included a clean WordPress interface and flexible custom blocks, empowering CSF’s internal team to manage updates easily and independently.

Outcome

A mission-driven website reflecting CSF’s legacy and forward vision.

Successful migration of 10+ years of structured content.

Streamlined navigation for improved user access and discovery.

Modern, symbolic design aligned with the Foundation’s values.

Enterprise-level security and performance enhancements.

Flexible admin tools for long-term content independence.
